Definition of Poetry (Exercise)

Poetry is like a bitter pill. You must swallow the contents to truly enjoy the benefits.

Poetry can be misleading, poetry can be confusing. If it’s not, you aren’t thinking enough.

Poetry is a way to describe a scene while being witty, confusing and demanding, but still retain its description.

Poetry is a way to make a blunt message elegant, in complicated words to teach ignorant people lessons.

Poetry is like a broken bone. You don’t need to see it to know how much it hurts. 

This is what goes on in my mind . . . It's lovely to share it with you all.

Run

Away I will run from my sorrows
I will walk until I come to the end of land
I will swim until I come to the end of the ocean
I will crawl until I come to the end of the abyss
And I will fall into the dark oblivion that forever consumes me

LOOK BEHIND YOU   (A HORROR)

I am running as fast as I can. This figure won't leave me alone. No matter how quick I go, no matter what corners I turn when I look back, he's there. I have no idea who he is or what he wants but my goal is to get away. My heavy breaths form a cloud of mist in the air. My panting echoes off the dark alley and adds a sense of eeriness to the already creepy situation. Then a gasp escapes my lips as I realise I have reached the end of the alley. There is nowhere to go.

The figure draws closer, the streetlights casting a shadow around his body. His face is hidden, he wears a long cloak and a fedora.

"What do you want from me," I yell, my heart rate over the edge.

Yet the figure lurks closer, oblivious to my words. He pulls out a knife, the shiny metal glints under the moonlight. This is the scariest thing I've ever experienced before. I push my back against the wall as if I can push it down and escape but I know there is nowhere to go. There is no hope.

The figure is right on me now, his shadow blocking my light.

"Please don't this," I cry.

But if he had a shred of mercy it's gone. He plunges the knife towards my chest.

Nobody

Everybody cares for her
Everybody cares for him
But has anybody battered an eye at me
No
Nobody loves
Nobody hates me
Nobody needs me
Nobody wants me
Nobody knows me
Nobody bothers me
I'm just in the background
Alone with all the cares

I suppose for there to be light there needs to be darkness
So I am the darkness to give the light to the happy
While taking their sorrows away 

Cookie

Mix the wet and dry
Turn the oven up and bake
The tasty goodness

Wait twenty minutes
Smell the wafting scent of the
Chocolaty goodness

Melt them in your mouth
Warm, gooey, soft and yummy
The cookie goodness

Empty

My life is so boring
Day to day to day
I'm just a normal person
Not different in many ways
I have skills, I have faults
I do good and bad things
My life is missing spice
Nothing, not a thing
Not a dragon or true love
Or a half-giant bearing news
Not a goddess or a meteorite
Or something that glows blue
I want powers! Abilities!
Something to give some oomph!
Not this day to day boredom
That will make me disappear with a poof

It Is

It is pain
It is desire
It is selfish
It is strong

It is mocking
It is burning
It is heavy
It is a chasm

It is tiresome
It is a whisper
It is uncertainty
It is danger

It is long
It is deep
It is troublesome
It is an obstacle

It is hate
